Pranayam is a serial based on the novel of Manju Kapur partially. The name of the novel is Custody. Also Pranayam is an official remake of "Ye Hai Mohabattein".
It is also remade in Tamil due to the response from fans. The story revolves around Sharan, the role played by Srinish Arvind and Lakshmi, the role played by Ramya Shankar. Sharan is a divorcee and he is staying with his daughter Malu. He works as Chief Executive Officer on a multinational company. Lakshmi is a dentist by profession, settled in Kerala, basically from a Tamil Brahmin Family. Since she is sterial, it was difficult to find a suitable husband for her. She is neighbour to Sharan and becomes emotionally attached to his daughter Malu, who brings Sharan and Lakshmi closer. Eventually both get married. This beautiful love story has attracted the fans to the core that think the characters as their family.
