The story revolves around a kid Janikutty, who is adopted by the couple Rathnamma And Vijayaraghavan when her mother died. She was taken care of them very well and was pampered well.But the situation changes, when Rathnamma delivers her own baby. Janikutty is neglected and faces many struggles and troubles.
The rest of the story is the way she fights the hardships and overcomes the troubles and achieves big in the society. The way she copes up with hardships make the viewers feel pity for her.
The serial is a huge hit among the Malayalam fans and is a trend setter when compared to the other soaps which shows mainly the rift between daughters in law and mothers in law. The dialogues and cinematography are added advantages for the success of this serial.
